So Tuesday was my 22nd birthday...yes yes, my Taylor Swift year :) Not gonna lie I was pretty in denial about not being 21 anymore, but I’m over that now (kinda). Tuesday morning, I went to workout at Hotworx (I did the Hot Yoga workout), went to get my nails done, and went to Starbucks because gotta love a free birthday drink right? For my nails, I got OPI’s less is norse, which is like a bluish gray…I wanted to get a fall color. Then I had class, got Chick-fil-A for lunch, and had to babysit after. I was looking for an outfit to wear for dinner that night, so I went to Rodeo and Moxi with one of my friends. I had already gotten a black and gold skirt from Vertage, but I needed a top to go with it. I got a black drop waist dress from Rodeo, but I ended up wearing the new skirt with a white top that I already had from Lucy Rose in New Orleans (one of my favorite stores). Speaking of, some of Austin’s family gave me gift cards to there, and I am SO excited to go shop!

We had dinner reservations at Fleming's at 7. Y’all, Fleming’s was great! Neither one of us had been there before, so it was fun to try something new. On top of that, Fleming’s does Tomahawk Tuesday to where you get 2 salads, a tomahawk steak, 2 sides, and 2 desserts…talk about a LOT of food. If you’re like us and didn’t really know what exactly a tomahawk steak is, other than a big steak with a big bone sticking out of it, I’ll tell you. Our waiter told us that it’s somewhat like a ribeye, but it’s a fattier piece of meat, which means that it has a lot of flavor. It sounds like it’s the fattiest cut of steak. I don’t like fat on my steak, so I was kinda hesitant on getting it, but since it was kinda a special thing, we just decided to do it. And I’m so happy that we did! It was so fun! If you ever want to try a tomahawk steak, definitely go to Fleming’s on a Tuesday.

We each started off with a glass of wine. I got a Sauvignon Blanc (my go to) and Austin got a Pinot Noir, which was so good! I think I'm starting to really like Pinot Noir. We each got a Caesar salad to start, and honestly, I think it was one of the best Caesar salads I’ve ever had. It had shaved parmesan and what seemed to be (slightly) dried prosciutto on top. The dressing was a little different than most Caesar salads that I’ve had, but it was delicious. For our two sides, we got the Fleming’s potatoes, which was like au gratin (or cheesy) potatoes, and the crispy Brussels sprouts with bacon. The sides were amazing, especially the Brussels sprouts. If you’ve never had them and want to try Brussels sprouts, you should try these. They were pretty sweet because of the honey glaze. By the time we ate all of this (well, not all of it because we took leftovers home), we were so full. And we still had dessert! Good thing dessert is like a separate compartment in your stomach right? There were only two options for dessert, so we just got one of each. The ooey gooey chocolate cake was probably one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. It was so rich. It basically melted in your mouth though. I think I could go back and just get that honestly. We also had a cheesecake, which had an orange/citrus flavor. It was really good too. I’m such a chocolate person though, so the chocolate cake was definitely my favorite. Oh, and before we left, our waiter gave me a birthday treat, which was 4 homemade chocolate truffles. I was so full that I didn’t try one until Wednesday afternoon, and I think this was even better than the chocolate cake. Talk about melting in your mouth. It almost has the texture of a warm brownie. These truffles were absolutely amazing, like oh my gosh, so good!! I NEED to figure out how to make these. If anyone has a good chocolate truffle recipe please let me know :)
It’s safe to say I had a great birthday (even if I was in denial about being 22), and the celebration isn’t over yet! Birthdays are my favorite, especially my birthday…it’s national Alexis Pippin day 🙃 I am on my way home as I’m writing this to celebrate my birthday…don’t worry, I’m not driving. Austin is, so I get to write :) Some of my mom’s side of the family is coming over Sunday for brunch to celebrate. (Well, as I'm editing this, it's Sunday afternoon, and I'm on my way back to Baton Rouge. Lunch with my family was really good. I was so happy that I got to see my family.)
~Cheers 🥂~
