Chances are, if you keep up with the Baton Rouge restaurant scene, you've probably heard of one of its newest restaurants: Supper Club. It's promised to be an elite scene with amazing food, so Austin and I had to check it out for ourselves (on my last night living in Baton Rouge). We made reservations a little over a month out, which is standard right now since it's new. You must have a reservation, and you can book here. There is an Elegant Casual dress code, which means men should wear a collared shirt or jacket and women should wear cocktail/evening attire. You can find more about the dress code here.

Located on Perkins near Perkins Rowe, the all black exterior gives a very mysterious feel. It's somewhat hidden behind a bank, so you have to be looking for it. When you walk up, you give your name and then are welcomed inside to the dark room with only the neon "Supper Club" sign. After walking through the entryway, you enter the dimly lit restaurant to meet the hostess. We sat at the bar, which seems to be where groups of two often sit. Personally, I enjoy sitting at the bar in a restaurant because it's fun to see all the different drinks that are made.
Once we were seated, we looked at the cocktail menu. Based on some pictures and Tiktoks that I have seen, I think the cocktails change often. Some of the ones (like the drink in the fluid bag that you may have seen) were not on the menu. The specialty cocktails that night sounded great! I got the Make Grapes Not War (a gin drink), and Austin got the Thumper (a version of a carrot margarita). Both of our drinks were delicious! I was surprised by Austin's choice since it had carrots in it and that's more of a me drink, but we both really liked it. We didn't get one, but the presentation for the smoked old fashioned was unique and cool. Oh, and the best part is that when you are first seated, they bring out truffle fries! More places should do this in my opinion. For our appetizer, we debated between the grilled cheese dumplings and the short rib burnt ends but decided on the dumplings. When I went to Vegas last year, I had some that were very similar at Beauty & Essex. I liked them then, so I knew I wanted to try their version and wanted Austin to try them too. We both loved them and were so happy with our choice! However, I will say, from what I saw, the presentation of the burnt ends was awesome.
After appetizers, we ordered our entrees and another cocktail. Austin got a really good espresso martini. I asked the bartender if he could do a good gin or vodka drink. He said "I got you" and started making a drink. I'm not picky, so I was excited to try something new. He ended up making such a great drink for me--it had mint, grapefruit, and was fizzy. It's like he knew just what I like! If you sit at the bar, I definitely feel like it's the kind of place you can ask for a special concoction from the bartender. Not only was our bartender knowledgeable on drinks, he was also great in suggesting what to eat. They had some special cuts of meats in their hand selected section, but those are definitely priced as such. Austin got the 8 oz filet, and I got the ora king salmon, one of the things our waiter recommended. Both of our entrees were cooked perfectly and tasted great. My salmon literally melted in my mouth; it was delicious! Mine came with a little coleslaw type accompaniment too, which I enjoyed. They have multiple side options, but we decided on the truffled corn and potatoes au gratin. Y'all...these sides were no joke! They are made to serve at least 4 people, and they were incredible! 10/10 recommend these two, but all of the other ones we saw looked good too.
Since we were so full from all of our food, we ended up not getting dessert. I know...CRAZY! Especially for me, a sweets lover. Their featured dessert seems to be the crème brûlée flamed table side. We saw someone get it, and it's pretty cool! However, it is meant for 8 or so people...it's huge! The other two options were (pretty sure) a buttermilk cake and some donuts with different dipping sauces. I definitely want to go back with a bigger group so that we can try the crème brûlée.
Overall, I really enjoyed our meal and experience at the Supper Club. The experience is so different than anything else in Baton Rouge. Between the DJ, the dark ambiance, and the elite feel, you are very likely to forget where you are. The restaurant seems to be designed for groups, but we still loved our date night. Going with a group would allow you to try more appetizers, sides, and that crème brûlée. I'm thinking that it would be a really fun spot to go on a Friday night before a game day.
